Alex M. Martinez

Alex M. Martinez, 81, of Rosenberg, Texas passed away on April 5, 2021 surrounded by family. He was born on April 24, 1939 in Palacios, Texas to Pete Martinez, Sr. and Beatrice Marines Martinez. Alex was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Rosenberg. Alex grew up farming until he became a welder at Belmas and then moved over to Tapco where he finally decided to retire after 44 years. He was an avid outdoorsmen- whether he was tending to his plants and flowers, fishing on the jetties in Freeport or going hunting. Alex also enjoyed country music and watching old war movies and anything with John Wayne. Alex enjoyed his sports- always cheering for his beloved Oilers, Astro’s and Texans. This loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend will be missed.

In addition to his parents, Alex is preceded in death by his first wife, Cruz G. Martinez; and brothers, Raymond, Jimmy, and Pete Jr. Martinez, and sister, Frances Ramirez.

Survivors include his wife, Rosa G. Martinez; children, Jimmy Lee Martinez (Ana), Angelita Rubalcaba (Felix), Alex Martinez, Jr. (Lisa) and Carmen Martinez ; and siblings, Leonard Martinez, Sr. (Janie), and Nancy Martinez.

Alex was the proud Grandpa to 14 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 9, 2021 in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg.

The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 10, 2021 in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg. Burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg. Deacon Albert Yanez to officiate all services.
