Travis High School will continue to have a graduation ceremony, but now it will be an outdoor ceremony.

Fort Bend ISD announced that Travis and the 10 other high schools will have their graduation ceremonies at Kenneth Hall Stadium in Missouri City in the first week of June. Each day will have two ceremonies at 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Travis will have its ceremony on Friday, June 5 at 8 p.m.

The district was planning for their ceremonies to be held at the Smart Financial Centre in Sugar Land in late July, but Gov. Greg Abbott signed an executive order allowing outdoor graduation ceremonies to take place beginning June 1.

The Texas Education Agency has put requirements for all outdoor ceremonies, including capping the number of total participants to allow for social distancing during the event. All participants must space six feet apart, except for members of the same family of five individuals or fewer, excluding the graduate.

FBISD said that tickets to the ceremonies would be made to allow social distancing.

The district will make more details available for the ceremonies in the coming weeks.

There are also three slots available for a makeup ceremony on Sunday, June 7 and Monday, June 8 in case of inclement weather.
