Despite some COVID-19 protocols being lifted by some school districts, Lamar Consolidated ISD announced that it will continue to offer free meals to students over the summer.

Extensions to waivers by the USDA will allow LCISD and other school districts to offer meals to its students who are 18 and under over the summer at no cost. Non-students to LCISD schools can also pick up a free meal.

Families will have an option of order a multi-day kit consisting of five breakfast meals and five lunches.

Parents or guardians must fill out an online form every Wednesday by 8 p.m. prior to pickup time. Meals will not be given out if the form is not submitted.

Also, parents must provide documentation if they do not receive a placard for their car used to pick up the meals.

For LCISD students to sign up, you must provide either a student ID card issued by the district, a class schedule or any correspondence from the school with the student ID number on it.

For non-LCISD students, parents must present a birth certificate of the child only if the child is not present in the vehicle during pick-up.

Pre-order for meals is from June 7-11, and meal pickups will be every Monday from June 7 to Aug. 16 from 8:45 to 11 a.m.

The pick-up sites will be at five LCISD schools: Beasley Elementary, Fulshear High, George Ranch High, Smith Elementary and Taylor Ray Elementary.

Fort Bend ISD is also continuing to offer free meals to students through its Grab and Go program. Meals are available on Mondays and Thursdays of each week. Travis High School will have its curbside meals available from 7:30 to 9 a.m.

But because of the Memorial Day holiday, Grab and Go meals will not be on Monday and instead be available for pickup on Tuesday, where participants will be picking up breakfast, lunch and dinner for Tuesday and Wednesday.

Thursday’s pickup for Grab and Go will have breakfast, lunch and dinner meals for Thursday only, and breakfast and lunch meals for Friday and Saturday.

Dinner meals will be discontinued after Thursday.
