Fulshear's Class of 2019

Graduates of Fulshear High School stand after receiving their diplomas and becoming the first-ever graduates of the school during last year’s commencement ceremony. This year’s ceremony will take place at Legacy Stadium in Katy.

Lamar Consolidated ISD has announced that all five of its high school graduations have been moved to Legacy Stadium in Katy from June 26-30.

The change of venue from the Merrill Center to Legacy is so the district can comply with Gov. Greg Abbott’s guidelines to holding ceremonies amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The ceremonies will have social distancing strategies and other safety measures. LCISD said it will communicate with families on what guidelines will be set.

Legacy Stadium was used instead of Traylor Stadium, which is currently undergoing major renovations.

The first graduation ceremony will be for George Ranch High School on Friday, June 26 at 8 p.m. Fulshear High School will have its ceremony on Saturday, June 27 at 8 p.m.

On Sunday, June 28, Foster High School will have its graduation ceremony at 8 p.m., with Lamar Consolidated High School next on Monday, June 29 at 8 p.m.

Terry High School will have its graduation on Tuesday, June 30, at 8 p.m.

All five ceremonies will be streamed live on the LCISD YouTube channel and on the district’s website.

LCISD said that due to the evolving COVID-19 situation, many graduation specifics such as cap and gown distribution and number of guest tickets are still pending for some campuses. Each school has custom gowns made for graduation ceremonies, so it is taking the distributors longer to deliver the gowns.

High school principals will follow up with families by Friday, May 29 with the latest information on cap and gown distribution and graduation tickets, the district said.

Rainout dates for the ceremonies are: Saturday, June 27 for George Ranch; Sunday, June 28 for Fulshear; Monday, June 29 for Foster; Tuesday, June 30 for Lamar; and Wednesday, July 1 for Terry. All rainout ceremony times are 9:30 a.m.
