Rosenberg police officers were summoned to Wessendorff Middle School on Sunday in regards to a welfare concern.

When they arrived, the officers found an unresponsive, elderly man who was then transported by EMS to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. The individual was identified as Louis Butler, a well-known local homeless resident of Fort Bend County.

The incident is currently under investigation, but no foul play is suspected.

“If you have ever spent any amount of time cruising the roads of Fort Bend County between Katy and Sugar Land you have probably seen Mr. Butler on one bicycle or another” Rosenberg Police Chief Jonathan White said. “We are saddened by the news of Mr. Butler’s passing and offer our deepest condolences to his family.”
