Icicles hang from street signs around Richmond and Rosenberg in 2018. 

The temperatures in Fort Bend County have dropped below freezing this evening while rain has begun to fall. The results have been dangerous driving condition  with ice forming in major roadways. 

The first major announcement came around 6 p.m. with a major accident in Beasley. The Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office responded to a multiple vehicle accident near U.S. 59 and Spur 10 intersection.  

The Sheriff's Office also reports ice has already formed in Fort Bend at: 

  • Intersection of FM 1489 & SH 36S
  • 700 block of SH 36
  • Intersection of Fulshear Bend/Cross Creek

UPDATE - 8:07 PM 

Multiple portions of US 59, the Grand Parkway and SH 36 have frozen over. 

The bridges over the Brazos river in Rosenberg and the Arredondo Bridge are closed. 


UPDATE - 10:05 PM 

Multiple portions of US 59 have been closed due to ice. 

Power outages are ongoing throughout Rosenberg and Richmond.
