November is going to be an interesting month for Rosenberg City Council members.
Because the 2020 election has been postponed from May to November, council will have to move some meeting dates around to accommodate Election Day.
At the regular Rosenberg City Council meeting Tuesday, council members will consider doing just that.
At a special city council meeting in March, council members approved the postponement of the May 2 election. However, the Nov. 3 election date conflicts with the regularly scheduled council meeting.
In addition, the election code states, the first official day to canvass the results is Friday, Nov. 6, and the last day to canvass is Saturday, Nov. 14.
Because canvassing must occur before the next regular city council meeting on Nov. 17, this item gives council the opportunity to reschedule the Nov. 3 council meeting to Tuesday, Nov. 10 in order to meet this deadline for canvassing and eliminate the conflict with the election date.
In other business, council members will consider bid documents for the city’s ground maintenance services.
Ground maintenance services are currently provided at Rosenberg City Hall, the Rosenberg Police Department, the Rosenberg Civic & Convention Center, Rosenberg Fire Departments No. 1, 2 and 3, the Rosenberg cemetery, water plants and lift station.
City staff recommends awarding the contract to lowest bidder Landscape Professionals of Texas, in the amount of $75,556.
According to city staff, Landscape Professionals of Texas holds the current contract and their work has been satisfactory.
The meeting will be held via Zoom teleconference at 6:30 p.m.
Citizens will not be allowed to attend council meetings, but can still ask questions via letters, telephone or email.
