The Literacy Council of Fort Bend County has postponed the eighth annual Reading Between the Wines event, initially scheduled for March 27.

Emmy award-winning actor, author, director and producer Henry Winkler is slated to be the featured author at the event. Due to scheduling conflicts with the HBO show “Barry,” Reading Between the Wines will now take place on Saturday, Aug. 15.

“The new date was set to avoid potential future Barry filming conflicts,” Executive Director Kelli Metzenthin said.

The event will take place at Safari Texas Ranch, 11627 FM 1464 in Richmond. Guests can enjoy the traditional dessert auction, silent auction, food from local restaurants and more.

“I was so looking forward to being there with everyone and disappointed that my work schedule and speaking engagement collided,” Winkler said. “I can’t wait to see you all on Aug. 15.”

Sponsorship opportunities are still available and range from $500 to $5,000. Individual tickets are $125 and include live music, wine and a “restaurant stroll” featuring tastes from local restaurants.

Book clubs have the opportunity to attend at a special book club rate of $1,000 for a table of 10 guests.

“We’d like to thank everyone who supports our agency and has contributed to this year’s Reading Between the Wines event,” Metzenthin added. “We are in the process of diligently working to contact all donors, sponsors and vendors about the new date. We are committed to a having a successful event later this year.” Anyone interested in supporting the agency’s fundraiser or adjusting their sponsorship is encouraged to contact the Literacy Council at 281-240-8181.

Reading Between the Wines is the organization’s largest fundraiser, benefiting its adult literacy programs. Please visit www. for more information.
