Rosenberg police nab suspected jewel thieves

Rosenberg police arrested two Houston residents accused of robbing a jewelry store Tuesday, authorities reported.

Officers were dispatched to a Kay Jewelers, located in Brazos Town Center, in response to a robbery, Assistant Police Chief Jarret Nethery reported. As officers arrived, they located a vehicle which matched the suspects vehicle description provided by a witness.

When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver refused to stop, leading officers on a high-speed pursuit through the cities of Sugar Land and Stafford before the vehicle came to a stop, police reported.

The suspected thieves fled on foot near the U.S. 59 feeder road and Kirkwood Road. Officers from Rosenberg, Sugar Land and Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office chased multiple suspects in multiple directions through the busy intersections. Two suspects were captured and taken into custody. The jewelry was also located nearby after it was abandoned during the foot chase.
