Lies, lies, lies and more lies or “I don’t recall” is all I heard Thursday during the Jerry Springer Show-like Richmond ethics board meeting.
This meeting was chaired by a clearly biased, pompous, arrogant, ill-informed, unprepared, self-righteous former judge named Nina Schaefer.
It was clear to me and others present what her agenda and her marching orders were — to exonerate Richmond Mayor Evalyn Moore and City Commissioner Barry Beard by any means.
You would have had to be blind not to have seen what was going on.
However, Schaefer’s ineptness and inability to stay focused didn’t allow her to carry out her agenda in a seamless manner that would have fooled us all.
Instead, she sloppily bumbled through the “kangaroo court” meeting and constantly referenced that she is a former judge in an attempt to legitimize her actions.
I couldn’t tell if Schaefer was the defense attorney for Moore and Beard or just a washed-up former judge trying to relive her glory days on the bench.
Schaefer determined that official city of Richmond emails that the city had been ordered to turn over to me by the Texas Attorney General somehow were nothing more than hearsay and she didn’t want to hear anything else from us.
If that is hearsay, then I guarantee you that she will exonerate Beard on Aug. 1 just as she exonerated Moore on Thursday night.
