Pecan Grove artist and illustrator Robyn Crowell will hold her first formal signing of a book she illustrated — “The Trickster: Poems for Very Clever Children & Silly Adults” — written by poet Daniel Klawitter, who was a fellow Terry High School graduate with Crowell.

Although Klawitter now lives in Colorado, Crowell calls Richmond home and recently moved into the Pecan Grove area.

The book signing event, dubbed “Poetry and Pajamas,” will be held Aug. 8 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Pecan Grove Country Club, 3000 Plantation Drive in Richmond.

“Bring the kiddos or just yourself if you’re a big kid like me,” Crowell said in her Facebook post announcing the event.

Books can be bought for $20 at the event and at 7 p.m. select excerpts will be read followed by a Q&A session.

“Wear your pajamas and bring a friend,” Crowell encouraged.

In addition to sparking a connection between her and her new neighborhood, Crowell said she sees the book signing as “a great way to kick off that school vibe and encourage reading and creativity.”
