Two more Fort Bend County residents have died from COVID-19, health authorities reported early Wednesday.
The deaths bring to 47 the number of people who have perished from the novel coronavirus in Fort Bend County since the first victim fell ill in early March.
The recent victims include a woman in her 70s and a woman in her 60s, the Fort Bend County Health and Human Services Department reported on its Community Impact Dashboard, which keeps tabs on the virus.
Both had underlying conditions.
Authorities said 1,951 residents have contracted the potentially deadly virus, which includes 35 new cases reported Wednesday. Of those 719 have recovered completely, 1,165 are presently recuperating in home isolation and 20 are hospitalized.
To be considered completely recovered, victims must test negative for the virus twice in a 14-day period.
More than 13,400 residents have been tested for the virus at the five free test sites in Rosenberg, Richmond, Sugar Land, Missouri City and Stafford.
