
Alan Faneca
After six years of waiting, Lamar Consolidated graduate Alan Faneca has been inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Faneca played 13 seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers (1998-2007), New York Jets (2008-2009) and the Arizona Cardinals (2010). He appeared in 206 games, including the Steelers' Super Bowl XL victory in 2005.
The former Mustang's selection was announced Saturday during the annual NFL Honors.
Faneca is one of eight members selected in the Class of 2021, including coach Tom Flores, wide receiver Calvin Johnson, safety John Lynch, quarterback Peyton Manning, contributor Bill Nunn, wide receiver Drew Pearson and cornerback/safety Charles Woodson.

Faneca was selected the 1993 Touchdown Club of Houston's Offensive Player of the Year, his senior season with the Mustangs. Lamar Consolidated was 11-1-1 that season after finishing the regular season undefeated for the first time in program history under head coach Don Landes.
With the Steelers, Faneca was named first-team all-pro six times (2001-02, 2004-07) and second-team in 2003 and 2008. He appeared in nine consecutive Pro Bowls and was selected to the NFL's All-Decade Team of the 2000s.
Faneca is one of three players at played at Lamar Consolidated; he was joined by Pierce Holt, who appeared in Super Bowl XXII and XXIV with the San Francisco 49ers, and Michael Lewis, who was in Super Bowl XXXIV with the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Steelers drafted Faneca in the first round of the 1998 NFL Draft out of LSU.
