In tribute to the late Douglas Adams, author of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, Fort Bend County Libraries’ University Branch Library will have a Towel-Day Celebration on Saturday, May 25, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm, in Meeting Room 1 of the library, located at 14010 University Blvd in Sugar Land, on the UH campus.

Towel Day is an annual celebration in tribute to the late Douglas Adams, author of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. On this day, fans around the universe carry a towel to demonstrate their appreciation for the author and his books.

Library patrons are invited to tote a towel or wear a bathrobe (over regular clothes!) and enjoy a showing of the movie based on the novel.

In this science-fiction tale, the greatest adventure in the universe begins when the world ends. Earthling Arthur Dent learns that his planet is about to be demolished and his only chance for survival is to hitch a ride on a passing spacecraft. This movie is rated PG.

Light refreshments will be served.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information, see the Fort Bend County Libraries website (, or call the University Branch Library (281-633-5100) or the library system’s Communications Office (281-633-47
