The 36th annual Needville Harvest Festival kicks off Friday and continues through Saturday, with tons of family-friendly activities for everyone. The event takes place at Harvest Park, 3001 Violet St.

Tickets are $6 for entry to both days of the festival, with children age 6 and younger admitted free of charge.

Raffle drawing tickets will remain on sale throughout the festival, with winning tickets drawn at 9 p.m. Saturday on the main stage. Winners need not be present.

First prize is a 2018 John Deere 4-by-4 Gator; second prize is a John Deere 48-inch zero-turn lawnmower; third prize is a $500 gift certificate; and $250 gift cards will be given to the fourth- and fifth-place winners.

Raffle drawing tickets are $10 each. They are being sold by Harvest Fest Queen contestants, Little Miss and Mr. candidates, and Harvest Fest Committee members, and are also available at numerous businesses in the Needville area.

Queen contestants are Alyssa Renae Cornejo, Treasure Ellerbe, Hannah Michele Elster, Jenna Lindemann, Jillian Renee Murphy, Desiree Ojeda, Hayley Nicol Patton, Bailie Eileen Pittman and Kyla Wieghat.

Little Miss contestants are Austyn Alvarado, Charlie Alvarado, Millie Malek, Kenna Peoples, Kylee Rader, Savannah Reneau, Mya Ruiz, Corley Salazar, Serenity-Anne Smith and Greycen Welch.

Little Mr. contestants are Dominic Chavez, Jaxson Gibbs, Ryland Grudziecki, Daniel Holik, Patrick Pelley, Branson Sbrusch, Carter Scheffer, Wyatt Snedecor, Kelvin Watson Jr. and Brenner Zdunkewicz.

Barbecue cook-off teams will begin setting up at 4 p.m. Thursday, and will officially check in from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday.

Vendor check-intakes place from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. that day, and gates to the cook-off area open at 5:30 p.m. The beer garden also opens at 5:30 p.m., at which time coloring contest entries will be on display in the main festival building.

The annual Sponsorship Dinner and Reception, sponsored by Glenn Schmidt of Edward Jones and Bayou Boys restaurant, begins at 6:30 p.m. in the main building, honoring all Harvest Fest sponsors. Music will be provided by Mark Stryk.

Fajita judging takes place at 8 p.m. on the Harvest Stage, followed by margarita judging at 8:30 p.m. in the pavilion area.

Gates will close at 11 p.m.

Activities begin early on Saturday, with vendors checking in from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.

The annual Fun Run starts at 7 a.m. at Needville Elementary, with winners announced after the talent contest at Harvest Park.

Gates open at 7:30 a.m. at Harvest Park, at which time Texas Outdoors Display set-up begins in the main building.

Folks of all ages with a wide variety of abilities will be featured in the Talent Contest at 9 a.m. on the main stage.

At 10 a.m., the car show begins on the south parking lot and Texas Outdoors Displays opens in Harvest Park building.

The fun continues in the Kidz Zone, where the first of four Sonny the Bird Man shows begins at 11 a.m. and the first of four David Gish Magic Acts at noon.

Talent Show winners will also perform at noon on the main stage, where the Little Miss and Mr. contest follows at 1 p.m. Coloring contest winners will also be announced at that time, and Texas Outdoor Displays continues in the main building.

At 2 p.m., Needville High School Sapphires Dance Team performs on the main stage, lawn mower races begin east of the jogging trail, car show awards will be announced on the Harvest Stage, and the David Gish Magic Act returns.

The 2019 Needville Harvest Fest Queen will be crowned at 2:30 p.m. on the main stage, and barbecue judging begins at that time on the Harvest Stage.

Sonny the Bird Man returns at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m., and the David Gish Magic Act returns at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m., all in the Kidz Zone.

A live auction begins at 4 p.m. on the Harvest Stage, where Lawn Mower Race awards and Barbecue Cook-Off awards will be announced at 5:30 p.m.

A dance begins at 6:30 p.m. on the main stage, with D.J. Tim Jakubik of Prestige Sound providing the music.

The dance with Prestige Sound continues at 8:30 p.m., raffle winners will be announced at 9 p.m. on the main stage, and the festival draws to a close at 10 p.m.
