James and Doris Goates

Happy 52nd anniversary to my in-laws and Pleak residents James and Doris Goates, December 23. James took his bride to her favorite restaurant and dined on oysters and lobster! As their son Wade (Pleak Alderman) put it “These two little love birds have made more than a couple of revolutions around the sun together! Happy Anniversary to the lady from the farm who picked cotton by hand then became a teacher and a young man from Uvalde who went into O&G! Love you both”

My family and I had an amazing early Christmas Saturday. Santa brought them some really cool stocking stuffers (my favorite thing to do). We grilled fajitas with all the fixings, had scrumptious desserts then retreated outside for some basketball, running around and a cozy fire.

Remember, the best presents don’t come wrapped, they are gifts of compassion during difficult times and the gift of laughter shared when times are good, friends and family.

Our winter weather has left for a bit and we will have a warm Christmas. Not sure why mother nature doesn’t cooperate and give us the white Christmas we all want, well me for sure. I hope everyone as a blessed and safe Merry Christmas!
