We breathe a sigh of relief as the first couple weeks of school are behind us. Whether you’ve decided to education your kiddos virtually or in person, the schools are clicking and there seems to be some semblance of normalcy returning. Or maybe the new normal. Hopefully, your Labor Day holiday was nice and relaxing and in the same week we honored the heroes from September 11th.

We Still Remember- last Friday marks the 19th anniversary of September 11th. Hopefully, while we are going about our daily lives, everyone will take a minute and remember the lives lost and all the sacrifices that thousands made on this day. The flags will be at half-mast and emergency services personnel will be holding memorials and moments of silence. It has never been more important to show our first responders and officers that they have community support; that we recognize their dedication and hard work. Stop by and say hello. They will welcome you!

Here’s what’s happen in our area.

Pecan Grove Country Club Hosting Calvary Preparatory

Our esteemed country club hosts many golf tournaments. It’s a premier course that draws players from around the area. PGCC is again hosting the 15th Annual Calvary Episcopal Preparatory Golf Tournament on November 2nd. While registration is in progress, they are focusing on looking for sponsors to make the event a huge success. Hole sponsors start at $175 and go upwards depending upon the level.

The tournament itself starts with registration at 7:30am with a shot gun start at 9am and runs through 1:30pm. Individual registration runs $125 per golfer with a team of four being $500. Crusader holes are available for purchase at $20 that allows a team to take their 2nd shot from 150 yards out on a designated par 3 hole.

Faith United Methodist Church

Having faith in your life? Faith United Methodist Church is a local religious force in our area. The always have community events that all neighbors are invited to regardless of your beliefs. They welcome any and all. This weekend they are hosting an Outdoor Movie Night. Saturday night, Sept 19th, at 7pm they begin with lawn seating and the Dough Ice Cream trucks for some sweets treats. Show time begins at 7:30pm and is showing The Lion King (the 2019 version). Grab your blankets and lawn chairs and join them in watching the movie and enjoying an amazing desert. The movie of free! The ice cream is only $5 with unlimited toppings! So, plan on taking the whole family.

It is also worth mentioning that Faith UMC is also celebrating their 30th Anniversary! On Sunday Sept 20th they will have a special video that captures moments in their rich history. They are offering 2 services at this time if you are looking for a spiritual place to worship. Please keep in mind that to attend services, you will need reservations. Please visit their website for more information www.faithumc.org.

That’s about it for now. Hope to hear from you! I can be reached at mcfbherald@yahoo.com.
