Fort Bend County Libraries will feature a free “Summer Family Movie Series” at the Albert George Branch Library beginning in June. A variety of fun, family movies will be shown on Mondays, starting at 2 p.m., in the Meeting Room of the library, located at 9230 Gene Street in Needville.

On Monday, June 3, the special feature to be shown is an animated family-comedy starring the voices of Adam Sandler, Selena Gomez, Andy Samburg and David Spade. Hotel owner Dracula and his family take a break from hosting everyone else’s vacation at the hotel and book a voyage on a luxury cruise for sea-loving monsters. They are unaware, however, that the ship is being commandeered by a descendant of the monster-hating Van Helsing family. This movie is rated PG.

The special feature on Monday, June 10, is an animated comedy-adventure film, released in 2014. A brilliant canine scientist and his adopted boy travel through time on a mission to fix a time rift they created. This movie is rated PG.

On Monday, June 17, watch an animated comedy-adventure film, released in 2007, about a rat named Remy who dreams of becoming a great French chef. Fate places Remy in the sewers of Paris, where he finds himself ideally situated beneath a famous gourmet restaurant. Despite being an unwelcome visitor in the kitchen, Remy and his passion for cooking sets in motion a hilarious and exciting rat-race that turns the Parisian culinary world upside-down. This movie is rated G.

The movie on Monday, June 24, is a live-action adventure film based on a popular classic children’s book, written by A.A. Milne, about a stuffed bear named Winnie the Pooh and his friends in the Hundred Acre Wood. This remake of the story finds Pooh’s old childhood friend now grown up into a middle-aged man who has lost his sense of imagination. With help from Piglet, Eeyore and Tigger, Pooh helps his friend rediscover the joys of life. Released in 2018, this movie is rated PG.

The movies are free and open to the public. Refreshments are provided courtesy of the Friends of the Albert George Branch Library. The libraries’ licensing agreement for public showing of films prohibits them from releasing the name of the movie outside of the library.
