Once again, Tres Davis is running for the Richmond City Commission.

Davis will run against incumbent Terry Gaul for Position 1.

The last day to file for May 1 city elections was Friday.

Alex BeMent defeated Davis in the race for Position 4 on the Richmond City Commission in 2019.

Davis, a school teacher, ran for Position 3 on the commission in 2018 but lost to incumbent Carl Drozd.

Davis ran for mayor of Richmond in 2017 but lost to incumbent Evalyn Moore.

Davis also hoped to replace the late Glen Gilmore on the commission in 2016 but voters chose Barry Beard instead.

In May’s election, Richmond voters will also elect a resident for Position 3, currently held by Drozd.

Drozd, along with Carlos Garcia, have filed for the position.

Garcia ran unsuccessfully for Position 1 in 2018, losing to Terry Gaul.

The city of Rosenberg will hold an election for mayor, and two residents tied to the council are vying for Mayor Bill Benton’s position.

Former mayor Cynthia McConathy and councilman Kevin Raines, who both have extensive knowledge on city matters, will race to the finish.

McConathy was first elected to the council in 2011 in At-Large Position 2 and re-elected in 2013.

And in May 2015, she was elected mayor and lost re-election to Benton in 2017. She lost to Benton in 2019 as well.

Raines was elected to the At-Large Position 2 seat on the council in May 2019.

Also up for election are two council spots: At-Large Position 1, presently held by Jacob Balderas, and At-Large Position 2, held by Raines.

Former city council member Alice Jozwiak has filed for the At-Large Position 1, along with Timothy Krugh, Rodolfo Rudy Cuellar Jr. and L. Jay Edenmeyer.

Jozwiak was elected to the council in May 2016 but was defeated two years later in 2018 by Lisa Wallingford. Jozwiak ran for the council again in 2019 but was unsuccessful.

Rudy Cuellar also ran for At-Large Position 1 in 2017 and 2019, but lost both times.

Alicia Casias and former council members Amanda Barta and Richard Olson have filed for the At-Large Position 2.

Casias ran unsuccessfully for the At-Large Position 2 seat on the council in 2015.

Barta has served multiple terms on the council, including as representative of District 4 and At-Large Position 2, to which she was elected in 2015 and again in 2017. She did not seek re-election to At-Large 2 in 2019.

Olson was first elected to office in May 2018 as representative of District 4. He was unopposed in the race.

He lost his re-election bid in May 2020.

District 1, District 4 and District 5 seats, as well as one at-large position, are up for election in the city of Fulshear.

Kent Pool who holds the At-Large position, has filed for re-election. Kevin White, who holds the District 1 position, has filed for re-election. Zachary Jones as also filed for the District 1 position.

Joel Patterson is the District 4 representative and has filed for re-election. Kaye Kahlich, who filed for re-election this week, holds the District 5 seat, as well as serves as mayor pro-tem.

In Needville, voters will elect a mayor and two aldermen.

The two alderman positions at large are currently represented by Rick Sinclair and Sandra Dorr.

Andrew Bohac serves as mayor.

Josh Aldridge has filed for an alderman position.

Two council member positions and the mayor’s post are up for election in Beasley, currently filled by Doug Harris and Carolyn Sabrsula and Mayor Kenneth Reid.

Pleak voters will elect two aldermen and a mayor.

Damon Kuhn holds an alderman position and Carolyn Dalmar vacated her position. Larry Bittner serves as mayor.

Kuhn has re-filed for election.

Candidates for city governments may file at Rosenberg City Hall, 2110 Fourth St.; Richmond City Hall, 402 Morton St.; Needville City Hall, 9022 Main St.; Beasley City Hall, 319 S. Third St.; Fulshear City Hall, 30603 FM 1093; or Pleak City Hall, 319 S. Third St.
