Former Lamar Consolidated High School student Martin DeLeon Jr. is returning to his hometown of Rosenberg this weekend to film a movie.

“I want to put Rosenberg on the map,” said DeLeon, owner of DeLeon Filmz.

DeLeon said he departed Rosenberg in the mid-90s to pursue his dreams of being a movie-maker in California. But he says he always dreamed of returning and promoting his hometown.

DeLeon and his crew will be filming a movie he wrote and will direct and star in called “Los Guyz; Spooked Out,” a comedy in the vein of Cheech & Chong about a couple of pals looking for work.

The film will feature Hector G, who regularly plays the funny Latino in movies, DeLeon said.

Filming will take place around 2 p.m. Saturday at the Rosenberg Ice House, 1315 Ave. I.
