Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the cause of death of a male body found Tuesday in the Brazos River, according to Bob Haenel, department spokesman.
The department received a call just before 1 p.m., said Haenel.
“The body was discovered by four people who were kayaking on the Brazos,” said Haenel.
“The body appears to be an Anglo or Hispanic male.”
An autopsy has been requested by the sheriff’s office.
The body was found near the location where Rustic Lane nears the river.
“That is the north side of the river, east of the FM 723 bridge over the Brazos,” said Haenel.
Rosenberg police officers were the first on the scene after the call was received, said Haenel.
A cause of death has not been determined, said Haenel, adding he was not sure how long the body was in the river.
Haenel said he is uncertain whether the body suffered wounds or if foul play occurred.
