What’s sweeter than a popsicle on a hot summer day?

According to Rosenberg Animal Control Director Mara Hartsell, a popsicle and a pet. Well, a creamsicle to be exact.

Wednesday is National Creamsicle Day, and Rosenberg Animal Control has waived adoption fees for all orange and white dogs and cats.

“We’re trying to do cute little themes to get our cats and dogs adopted,” Hartsell explained. “So, if someone adopts a creamsicle-colored cat or dog, then we will also offer them a creamsicle popsicle.”

Hartsell said these types of events are intended to promote certain animals that could get overlooked in the adoption process, like orange cats and dogs.

According to Hartsell, the shelter is currently housing 67 cats and 40 dogs. “We’re at the point in the year where we continue to get an influx of animals. We want people to come and adopt not just on Wednesday, but also in general.”

Rosenberg Animal Control is located at 1207 Blume Road and will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
