Sugar Land schools lock doors as police search for burglary suspect

SUGAR LAND — Police asked multiple Sugar Land schools to lock their doors as they searched for a burglary suspect Tuesday afternoon.

A homeowner found a man crawling out a back window at a house near 7th and Eldridge. When the homeowner confronted the man, he ran away. The burglar was not located and police have suspended the search. Police say if he is caught, he will be charged with criminal trespassing.

Sugar Land Middle School, Sugar Mill Elementary, Lakeview Elementary, and M.R. Wood Center for Learning locked all of their exterior doors and students were kept inside. Classes continued normally during the search.
