Two killed in accident after chase

Posted: Monday, April 30, 2012 6:33 pm | Updated: 6:34 pm, Mon Apr 30, 2012.

Two people were killed and a third person suffered injuries in an early Monday wreck that happened after a chase involving a Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office deputy, said Sheriff’s Offirce spokesman Bob Haenel.

The names of the deceased and the injured person were not available as of press time Monday. The Department of Public Safety is conducting the investigation.

At about 1:50 a.m., Monday, a Sheriff’s Office deputy saw a vehicle traveling south on Texas 99 at a high rate of speed.

The deputy began to follow the vehicle, which accelerated its speed as it approached the intersection of FM 1093, said Haenel.

The vehicle turned east on FM 1093 and at that time, the deputy lost sight of the vehicle, which was a small sports car.

The deputy found the vehicle just east of South Mason Road after the vehicle veered from FM 1093, hit a metal pole and rolled several times.

The male driver and a female passenger in the back seat were dead at the scene.

A second female passenger was flown by LifeFlight to Memorial Hermann Hospital-Texas Medical Center.
Members of the Community Volunteer Fire Department extracted the three people from the vehicle, Haenel said.

The deceased people were transported to the Galveston County Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsies.
